Profile Information

Location:
I work in the Pacific Northwest and Arizona. We live in the woods.
Church/School/Organization:
Mars Hill Church
Justice issues I'm interested in:
1. Injustice against the most vulnerable - the least of us: Abortion.
2. Injustice against vulnerable people beginning with the least powerful - the disabled, older adults, children, and, depending on context and culture - women or men, girls or boys - wounded veterans, and Native North Americans.
3. Injustice enabled by those who - in the guise of helping vulnerable people- become part of the problem and a tool of their oppressors. This includes careerism, bloated and ineffective programs, unintended consequences, and entitlement giveaways to people asking nothing in return - giving something for nothing - thus robbing the recipients of dignity and perpetuating rather than solving social problems.

Thanks for the welcome!!! What did you teach at Evergreen? This is my first year there (transfer student) and I am actually enjoying it quite a bit. I've learned a lot, but it can be a lonely place as a Christian. I've found a few Christian friends there, and some good non-Christian friends too. Thanks!

I'm not on Facebook. I've actually been trying to avoid it - This one's been holding my attention enough ;-). Anyway you can post a picture of your painting on this one?

I am glad you were invited to join this group. A question......while there may have been a particular political bias, how do we all get beyond that? The kingdom of God has no political bias.

What I mean is......while we all look through a particular political lens, to me most of these issues we discuss shouldn't be political. Yes....we need the political process to properly address some of them, but how can we (on this site) address them in a wholistic manner without always descending into a conservative vs liberal, or us vs. them debate. (Not that debate isn't enjoyable or necessary...but it isn't always productive) Maybe it is possible. My hunch is that you'd have some good insight on how we might actually do it. There are some great minds on this site - how do we get to the next step? What do you think? Possible? Necessary?

I hear you on buying a newspaper. I like to keep up on community news, but I will probably drop our subscription to the GR Press after the election. I can no longer morally support the politically correct DNC talking points posing as journalism.

e.g.
Would the last honest reporter turn on the lights?

The African slave trade is bigger now than before the Civil War.

It is 150 years to the day since John Brown was hanged, and more Africans are being enslaved today than at the height of the infamous Atlantic slave trade.

This at least is the conclusion that can be drawn from United Nations studies in ‘human trafficking’, as the slave trade is now being called. More >Continue

Micah, I know you know what the "straw man" argument is. Please do not use that with me, OK? Perhaps it is a misunderstanding due to my poor writing at past midnight. I am not suggesting what you describe in your last comment. Please read my last co…

Yes, and I am not suggesting any sort of Star Chamber, etc. This is the human heart and the original sins of pride and greed and just plain old lack of resources and still wanting the grants or wanting to participate for geo-political motivations (e…
