The
Office of Social Justice is excited to share the
CRC Teachers' Lounge with you - a place for Christian K-12 educators to access justice-related resources for the classroom, share ideas and lessons plans, and give one another support.
Last spring, GR Christian High School teacher Jane Hilbrands came to the OSJ with a great observation and a question. The CRC, she noted, has so many missions and ministries working around the world for justice, in areas from race relations to community development to advocacy for the poor. How can we connect the experiences and resources of these CRC ministries to the classroom? How can we get our kids excited and engaged in the real-world applications of their schooling?
With funding from the
Kuyers Institute for Christian Teaching and Learning and the OSJ, Jane and a team of interns rifled through loads of online and physical resources from many of the CRC's ministries, agencies and offices, looking for materials that had great curricular potential for elementary through high school, and for a variety of different subjects. The team compiled their results into documents that are easily searchable by subject matter and grade.
You'll find this tool at the CRC Teachers' Lounge.
In addition to searching CRC materials at the Lounge, you can also submit your own justice-related curriculum ideas, start discussions, post events and chat with other teachers who share you concern for justice. If you're a K-12 Christian School teacher, or know someone who is, we invite you to
