CRC Justice Seekers

'The Carpenteros and Friends,' a southern Ontario group, has worked closely with CRWRC on community development in Honduras for the past eight years. Please keep Honduras in your prayers, asking God for a peaceful outcome. Please also pray for the safety of two Carpenteros, Steve and Jordan Fox, who arrived in Honduras the day prior to the coup.

hey all, we've now got a comprehensive Honduras Political Situation prayer and advocacy guide posted on our website: http://www.ajs-us.org/HondurasPoliticalCrisis. Thanks for your prayers, advocacy, and support for justice efforts in Honduras!

Thanks for this update, Ken and we will pray for the Carpenteros. I read the summary and it was like I had thought and made me wish our President had not been so hasty in his judgments and comments The media's term of a South American "coup" doesn't seem to work here. The Supreme Court issued a ruling and commanded the military to remove Zelaya and the constitutional 2nd in line was then installed, not anyone in the military.

Hi Ken! thanks for bringing the situation to the attention of the Justice Seekers! Thanks also for your and the Carpenteros' advocacy, prayers, and support for justice cases like the "Lawyer of the Poor" assassination case and land rights in northern Honduras.

For those interested in learning more about the current political situation in Honduras, here's a great summary written by Association for a More Just Society co-founder Kurt Ver Beek for Christianity Today's website (you'll need to scroll down a bit).

The agreement of both ousted president Zelaya and the new de-facto government to mediation yesterday is a very positive step, but the situation still needs a lot of prayer. If anyone's interested in praying about this situation with a group from your church, college, etc., I'd be happy to give you more ideas on what to pray, and advocate, about.
