Hi Micah, my email address is mpeterson2150@gmail.com. I wouldn't mind at all communicating that way sometimes, but I do think it is important that people who may be reading hear more than your one point of view on the middle east. I will promise to keep it civil, but you seem so vehement in your attitude against Israel that I don't want to leave them without a response.
Hey Micah, Thanks for the invite. I am just now starting a new job and I have 4 young kids so my drive-by posts a couple of times a week are about my limit right now. I think we are both Christians who want a better world and might never agree on some of the ways we think that should happen.
In Israel, I see a microcosm of the Middle-East. When talking about being a “peacemaker” , many Christians seem to think that the answer is to be nice and talk to people and the problem will go away. This is known as “mirroring,” and it is the blind spot that most people bring to negotiations — the idea that our opponents want the same things we do. In the Taliban and Hamas and al Quaeda (not most Muslims) we are dealing with an enemy who insists on praying to Allah multiple times a day, who believes that women are subhuman, that homosexuals be killed on sight (preferably by crushing them under falling walls — look it up) and that any criticism of Allah, his Prophet or his clerics is punishable by beating or death. That is their IRREDUCIBLE CORE BELIEF SYSTEM and for that they are willing to die.
As Christians, we should pray for their conversion, and we do, but responsible citizens should also help protect their way of life.
Great, we have a full, green light, so let me know as soon as you land, I'll get lunch or dinner or whatever your first convenient meeting time is. Safe travels and blessings.
