CRC Justice Seekers

Turn a symbol of loss into one of hope!

Get your church or school involved in Tents of Hope.

WHAT: Your community paints a canvas tent with messages of peace, compassion and hope.

WHERE: Host a Tent Event in your church parking lot or on your school campus.

WHEN: Tent Events should be held in spring or summer of 2008.

WHY: The refugees of Darfur have fled a long way from their homes because of violence. They are forced to live in refugee communities, housed in canvas tents. They have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and many have lost family and friends. Life in the camps is hard. Though relief efforts through groups such as CRWRC help to bring food, water, supplies and healthcare to the refugee camps, danger and hardship still exist. Click HERE to learn more about WHY we urge you to participate in Tents of Hope.

When your group gathers together to work on this unique art piece, you are creating the space to learn about the situation in Darfur, providing a unique and fun way for people of all ages to participate, setting up opportunities for people to donate to refugee relief and to take advocacy action, and sending a message of solidarity to those who are suffering.

Won’t you join us?

I attended a meeting of the Save Darfur Grand Rapids group at Aldersgate UMC on Saturday Feb 2. We watched the documentary " Facing Sudan" which leaves nothing about this human tragedy unsaid. It came up in the course of discussion after the movie that Eric Prince, of Blackwater USA fame, who is from Holland Mi recently orchestrated the extraction of some CRC missionaries from Kenya recently, as the post election tensions escalated into violence.
One of the most pressing problems in Darfur right now is that UN/AU peacekeeping force has no helicopters with which to protect the Darfuri people.
What a beautifully poetic thing it would be if Mr. Prince could provide a few of those 24 helicopters that are so badly needed by the victims of the Al-Bashir government and his janjaweed thugs.
Join me in calling upon Mr. Prince and Blackwater USA to answer the biblical call to social justice and help the people of Darfur.

Isa 2:4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

What an awesome project! Particularly drawing in people who might not normally be involved might include campers and artists. Going to pass this along to a few people.
