CRC Justice Seekers

The Hope of the Quechua, produced by Brian Fuller in 2006, is garnering awards as well as exposure through broadcast.

The documentary examines CRWRC’s model of community development as it is worked out in the daily life of Illagua Chico, a tiny village on the volcanic ridges of the Andes in Ecuador. The village is home to Esteban and Maria Petrona, a young couple still in their early twenties who have become local leaders, creating a long-term vision of community improvement for the good of all.

Esteban and Maria’s concerns for the future are both lofty and tangible. They care as much for the spiritual and political maturity of their neighbors as for their meals and livestock. In their own words and language – seldom heard outside South America’s indigenous communities – Esteban & Maria Petrona invite the film’s viewers into their world.

Thank you Meghan. Not only is it great to see such things being put up on Justice Seekers, this one reminds me deeply of my very academic work on colonial Peru and Ecuador in graduate school. As my wife and I are thinking about next steps, this certainly stimulates our thoughts.
Peace,
Randy Gabrielse
