HEALTH CARE FOR MICHIGAN!

Michigan activists are currently circulating official petitions to add a Proposal to the November Election ballot. If they collect about 500,000 signatures, then the proposal will be put on the ballot. They are about half-way there. The initiative has a long list of endorsers including a lot of faith based groups in Michigan. The proposal would ask Michigan voters if they would like to ammend the state constitution to require the legislature to have a plan in place that would make affordable, q… Continue

Go To The Store... Spend $5... Prevent a Rape in Darfur...

Hi Friends, I have met a lot of people who used to live in Sudan, and I have met a lot of people who have worked in refugee camps near the Sudan border. Rape is happening outside of these camps RIGHT NOW. Witnesses have told me personal stories about these rapes, which are so brutal, that sometimes the women do not survive their injuries. You may ask, 'So, why are women leaving the relative safety of the camps?' Residents in the camp are responsible for cooking their own food for themselves… Continue

You could surely tie into their interest in global mission. They have a CRWRC intern from their church posted to Romania, and I know she's on justiceseekers - Sharon Bemis.

Hey, good to meet you here. I'm glad you are a person who is both passionate about justice and planning on seminary. I went to Calvin Sem for a couple years, then did a two year urban internship. Didn't go back and finish sem though. Now it's a whole lot of years later, and I've spent most of my life working for the CRC in one way and another. I wonder if you know the CRC congregation in Kibby? Friend of mine is the pastor there.

I'd love to see stuff you've written for promoting FT at your church, if you don't mind sharing it! Email me if you like: youngt@crcna.org

How's the FT program going at your church? Are responses mostly positive? We're always interested in what challenges people face when the bring up fair trade in their churches so that we know how to respond!

Hi Charlton - I was just browsing the members here and making connections and saw you're a South Havenite. My husband's fam hails from SH, and my mother-in-law is actually the office manager for the Bangor We Care. Just thought I'd say hi!

Yup--Andru is my oldest brother. Nathan (another brother) works at Wolverine Hardware; you'd probably recognize him too. Jeremy (my twin brother) lives and works in Grand Rapids now.

Hey, did you realize that I'm from South Haven? I grew up there and my parents and two of my brothers still live there! Anyway, I hope you have a great day!
